What’s nice about this is that you get to decide how you wish to use the bike: by pedaling this red and black beauty, using the throttle, or combining the two. Why wouldn’t a person use electricity all the time? Well, exercise is important and some people also enjoy putting some effort into their ride, but not always when the gradient is steep and they are heading to the top.
Also, in our case, we really enjoy riding our own bikes down to a certain little hangout called “Hidden Treasure” in Ponce Inlet (Florida) on some days after work. BUT, because we only have single speed manual bikes, we – or I really should say I – are limited to heading down there on days when the winds come out of the south. (This is because Ponce Inlet is south of where we live – and if there’s a stiff wind from the north, the ride home is NOT FUN.)
So, while I love getting out on my bike, if I have to ride home in a headwind, it kind of sucks the happy right out of me. Then I’m not inclined to go out at all. That’s where something like this comes in VERY handy. Even my husband, who rides his to the post office nearly every day for a good 11 miles round trip, says it’s not much fun with a headwind.
Back to the Newport Cruiser… A single charge requires 4 hours and takes you around 20 or up to 25 miles with this 300W bike colored black with red accents on the inner side of the tire. Pedal speeds reach 20 mph. X-Treme Bike, better known for their scooters, uses 26-inch street tires. A traditional basket mounted front or back lets you store a small amount of food or other items you bought when you rode out to the store. Again, it’s not a sporty-looking item but a practical one. And that’s fine with me!
