Economical ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser Smart Phone
Do you wonder what the best smart phones of 2015 were? Many were released, some more affordable than others. One economical item was the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser. It’s not a bad little machine in spite of some flaws, especially at roughly $200 – $225. Here is how it stacks up.
Specifications of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser Smart Phone
The ZenFone is slender at 3.5mm, like an iPhone, but pretty durable given its size. While the Samsung and Moto G are notoriously tough, Gorilla Glass 4 used in making the ZenFone 2 helps prevent breakage from everyday use. The build quality is substantial too.
It doesn’t feel flimsy. Several colors are supposedly available according to the Asus site but most websites display a black version only which is a shame. Shoppers with no technical inclination tend to be attracted by colors.

Display and Sound
A 5.5″ IPS LCD display features 1080p resolution and pixels of 401ppi. Visuals are very good in a regular viewing environment. Keep it out of direct sunlight, though, or the glare will interfere with visual quality. As far as audio, this lacks something to be desired but when listening to music or a phone call with one hand over your other ear or sitting at home surrounded by nothing but silence, sound quality is great. There’s no crackle, just too little volume otherwise.
Colors are selected through a program called Splendid which supplies many shades plus natural blending that’s appealing to the eye. Every feature of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser is powered by a 615 processor at a speed of 1.7GHz. RAM is 3GB. The result is smooth performance as you move between screens and use your device in all the usual ways one expects of a much-handled smart phone. The phone displays games, messages, and images clearly.

Phone Camera
I mentioned resolution and pixels already. How do these features affect the camera or video? The ZenFone 2 will automatically focus on a face, provides touch focus, and a panorama setting, but what is picture quality like? With these specifications, you are looking at average images. They’re not bad but do not expect anyone to mistake images you took on this Asus smart phone for something you could capture on a high-quality digital camera. Better phones are taking crisp, remarkable pictures and video. You will capture important moments with the convenience of smart phone technology and that’s fine for a lot of people.
Storage
Storage space can be upgraded to 16GB or 32GB if you want to buy a microSD card. The maximum space for a ZenFone 2 Laser is a whopping 128GB. Everything is supported by a 3,000-mAh battery which supplies a day’s use before charging, depending on what you do with it. If it’s only ever on standby then you can double your time, but heavy usage on the internet (browsing, shopping, or gaming) might require an earlier recharge.

Operation
Comfortably operate the Asus ZenFone 2 Laser smart phone whether you are right- or left-handed. The firing button is a long, narrow piece located at the back-center, so it’s easy to reach with either hand and also very beautiful. This is where the “laser” part of “ZenFone Laser” is apparent with what Asus refers to as their concentric-circle design created as a result of precise machine work.
The result is rather stunning against brushed metal. When using this as a phone (the point for which it was originally intended), the ZenFone Laser 2 works with LTE carriers. Some users suggest that AT&T is fine but not necessarily other mobile carriers.
Value
I still assert that for the money this Asus product is good value. If you want something better, cough up $600 or more for an iPhone 6. If you’re ready to check out the ASUS ZenFone 2, look no further than Amazon HERE!
