Easy Sauteed Spinach And Kale With Garlic And Parmesan
This is for all you people out there who need to eat more greens like me, and are looking for quick, easy and tasty ways to eat things like Kale.
All you need for this is:
- 1 tub of the Power Greens from Target (basically it is a mix of Kale and Baby Spinach, Red and Green Shards, in like a half gallon sized tub).
Here is the kind that I have at my local Target:
From Earthbound Farm
- 1 rounded tsp of garlic, or more if you love garlic.
- 1-2 TBSP of butter.
- A handful of fresh shredded parmesan Cheese, or grated if you prefer.
- Salt, pepper, and dry Oregano.
Step 1:
Melt the butter in a large saute pan.
(Larger is good, although not essential, since the greens wilt and shrink very fast).
Step 2:
Add the garlic as the butter is about halfway melted, Swirl the pan around, and let it start sizzling, but not too long or else the butter will start to burn.
Step 3:
Add the greens, and mix quickly with Kitchen Tongs, and shut off the heat and immediately season with salt, pepper and a few shakes of dry oregano.
Mix this a few times, and put on a plate, and sprinkle with Parmesan, and that’s it!
It is a nice, tasty way to get a good amount of greens, as that whole tub, will shrink very fast to a size that you could fit in your hand.
The greens are very quick as well, and if you turn the heat off after a couple mixes (probably 10-20 seconds after they hit the pan), then they will be cooked nicely, and not overcooked.
You can of course substitute the butter with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, though it is really tasty with the butter, garlic and cheese, and it is like 90% greens you are eating 🙂
